The project objective is to control and reduce mercury emission from cement industry in Brazil, implement the national strategy and action plan to reduce mercury emission from cement clinker production in Brazil under the Minamata Convention on Mercury. The project will focus on strengthening the capacity of the relevant stakeholders for monitoring and management of the mercury emissions from the cement industry, through review of the national regulations, establishment of guidelines, demonstration of suitable technologies for tracking emissions, but also through comprehensive study monetizing the emission reduction benefits.
