El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras, countries that make up the North of Central America (NCA), bring together a series of humanitarian needs driven by shared conditions of high poverty, recurrent climate shocks, chronic violence, limited access to health services and migratory flows from and to within their countries, among other factors. The different needs produced by these long-standing conditions have formed a complex fabric of vulnerabilities that humanitarian action has sought to address with intersectoral approaches for several years. Despite achievements in providing holistic responses to multidimensional needs in the NCA, humanitarian action in these countries was forced to drastically reconfigure in 2020 in the face of the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and seasonal most active hurricane ever recorded.
