Budget for this programme
$6.1M
6.1 million USD

Despite 2016 the Peace Agreement between the Government and the FARC-EP ending decades of civil war and progress in improving economic and social conditions, Colombia continues to face numerous humanitarian challenges. In some regions of the country, hostilities and armed violence continue, with significant humanitarian impact and protection challenges. This situation is further exacerbated by the impact of natural disasters, presence of landmines and unexploded ordnance and, now, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The latter has led to an increase in the number of food-insecure people from 3.3 million to over 10 million. So far in 2020, the humanitarian community in Colombia has provided assistance – including COVID-19 related assistance – to almost a million people. Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) currently supports a humanitarian coordination architecture consisting of around 120 partners, including UN agencies, national and international NGOs, the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, civil society, donors and national institutions.
