In Sudan, the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) delivers its mandate through its core functions of coordination, advocacy, humanitarian financing, policy and information management providing local coordination support to humanitarian organisations, liaising with the local government and, where applicable, with the integrated UN Mission and other entities. In 2021 humanitarians were able to reach more than 8.1 million people in need in Sudan. With growing needs, humanitarian organisations have continued assistance despite operational challenges posed by conflict, the economic crisis and Covid-19. However, more funding is still required, the 2021 Humanitarian Response Plan was only 37% funded. It is against this backdrop that the 2022 Humanitarian Response Plan has been developed.
