Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) Regional Office for West and Central Africa (ROWCA) has been based in Dakar, Senegal since November 2003 and covers 24 countries. In the region, OCHA is strengthening humanitarian coordination and providing coordination services to strengthen the strategic response to the humanitarian crisis in the region. It supports States and humanitarian country teams in crisis preparedness and response activities and increases the capacities of country offices. ROWCA also engages with governments, external partners and regional organizations, such as ECOWAS and ECCAS, to develop and foster regional coordination networks.
