The Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) was established in September 2004 in Chad by the United Nations Emergency Relief Coordinator (ERC) to provide a large-scale humanitarian response to nearly 200,000 people from Sudan neighbor (Darfur) between 2003 and 2004. The OCHA team in Chad works closely with the entire humanitarian community, which includes government entities at the national and provincial levels, 11 UN agencies, 48 ??international NGOs and 67 national NGOs. On the strength of the excellent collaboration resulting from these partnerships, OCHA plays an important role in coordinating the response to the various crises by setting up, whenever necessary, While working to ensure the maintenance of humanitarian space, OCHA is also working to strengthen the capacities of partners and to achieve greater coherence between humanitarian, development and peacebuilding activities through effective collaboration with all actors and by seeking the involvement of all, from the planning stage to the identification of priorities for humanitarian action in Chad. This active and inclusive partnership makes it possible to address, in a coordinated manner, the humanitarian consequences caused by the recurrent crises linked in particular to food insecurity and malnutrition, population movements, health emergencies, and the negative effects of climate change (floods and drought) and at the same time strengthen the resilience of populations.
