TWAS - BMBF Project for Capacity Building in Scientific Research for Young Scientists in Africa

Budget for this programme
$7.3M
7.3 million USD

Population growth in Africa presents both a challenge and an opportunity: education and training of young people will be paramount to secure a path towards sustainability for the Continent. To facilitate the setting up of new researchers in their home countries, TWAS and BMBF propose a novel modular programme which combines elements of research grants, mobility and training. A huge range of technical and soft skills will be developed, with opportunities to link with industry. The modular structure means that the programme can be tailored to different needs and contexts. The programme also brings forward an innovative approach to support women scientists.
