Direct Life-Saving and Protection Assistance for Conflict-Affected Populations in Eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo

The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) continues to experience armed and intercommunal conflicts, disasters related to natural hazards and disease epidemics that have created one of the world's most complex and long-standing crises. The escalating armed conflicts has exacerbated the vulnerabilities and worsened the already precarious living conditions of the population. The situation is further worsened by a string of attacks to civilians including displaced populations especially in Ituri province leading to casualties and new movement of populations. To address gaps in resources and service provision in spontaneous displacement sites in Eastern DRC, IOM proposes to provide camp coordination and camp management, shelter, and water, sanitation and hygiene assistance in displacement sites under its coordination and possibly, expand to other new spontaneous sites without any camp management services. The provision of assistance is being planned and provided following results of Displacement Tracking Matrix assessments.
