2023 Ukraine Response to Support Refugees from Ukraine across Europe

Budget for this programme
$14.6M
14.6 million USD

On 24 February 2022, the Russian Federation launched a broad military offensive in Ukraine. The situation in the country quickly deteriorated, leading to a significant number of Ukrainians and third country nationals forced to flee the country. Since the onset of the crisis, as of May 2023, an estimated 5,088,000 people remain internally displaced in Ukraine and an estimated 8,255,000 displaced abroad. Through this project, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) is providing multi-sectoral interventions focused on humanitarian assistance to vulnerable displaced and conflict-affected populations in neighbouring countries hosting refugees from Ukraine. This project is responding to the most urgent needs of migrants, displaced people and affected communities, and mitigating underlying vulnerabilities and risks, through the provision of life-saving assistance and protection support. IOM seeks to contribute to the efforts of countries hosting refugees and third country nationals to enhance their access to services and enable socioeconomic inclusion. This is carried out in coordination with governments and local actors in neighbouring countries to ensure a unified response and enable inclusive practices.
