The ongoing political and socio-economic developments in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela (hereinafter Venezuela) have led to the outflow of millions of Venezuelans into neighbouring countries and beyond. The Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) region has never experienced, in modern history, such a large-scale movement of both migrants and refugees. In 2015, there were approximately 700,000 Venezuelans living outside their country worldwide. By end-2024, it is projected that there will be some 6.82 million refugees and migrants from Venezuela in-destination in the LAC region, including some 4.71 million people in-need (PiN) of assistance according to the updated Regional Refugee and Migrant Response Plan (RMRP) 2024.
