The Better Education Systems for Afghanistan's Future (BESAF) Initiated in July 2018, BESAF originally aimed to support the government of Afghanistan in improving the education sector and enhancing the overall education system through targeted interventions. After the political change in Afghanistan in August 2021, the BESAF programme underwent reprogramming to align its interventions with the guidelines of Sida on engagement with de facto authorities, the current educational needs in Afghanistan, the priorities identified within the UN Transitional Engagement Framework (TEF) for Afghanistan, and the Afghanistan Education Sector Transitional Framework (AESTF).
