Direct Lifesaving Assistance for Conflict-Affected Displaced Populations in Eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo

Budget for this programme
$41.2M
41.2 million USD

The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) is facing one of the most complex and protracted humanitarian crises globally. As of 2024, over 25.4 million individuals require assistance while, as of October 2023, over 6.9 million individuals are internally displaced. The humanitarian crisis and related needs are particularly critical in four eastern provinces (Ituri, North Kivu, South Kivu and Tanganyika), which are characterized by a persistent deterioration of security conditions and massive protection issues due to ongoing activity by armed groups and inter-communal conflicts. To address the gaps in displacement sites in Eastern DRC, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) is delivering a multi-sectoral response comprised of camp coordination and camp management, shelter and water, sanitation and hygiene assistance in displacement sites under its coordination. This response is built on evidence-based information obtained through assessments of the Organization’s Displacement Tracking Matrix, which informs IOM interventions as well as those of relevant humanitarian partners.
