2025 Syria Regional Appeal - Lebanon - Emergency Health

UNRWA will support 180,000 health consultations for Palestine refugees in Lebanon (PRL and PRS) through 27 health facilities, including seven additional Family Health Teams (FHTs). Amid any conflict-related disruptions, up to ten more FHTs will be deployed to serve displaced populations in designated emergency shelters (DESs), temporary clinics, and other areas as needed. Services will include child and maternal health (nutrition, vaccinations, family planning), non-communicable diseases, mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS), and curative care. UNRWA will also provide medications, lab tests, and outpatient services such as dental care and x-rays. Given the economic crisis and widespread displacement, most PRL and PRS cannot afford hospital care. UNRWA will subsidize 9,924 hospitalizations, covering 60 to 90 per cent of inpatient costs, and provide 50 per cent outpatient subsidies for 2,993 refugees. Additionally, 440 emergency hospitalizations will be fully covered for conflict-related injuries. Through the Medical Hardship Fund, 74 refugees will receive top-up support for tertiary care, and 670 cancer patients will receive 75 per cent coverage for medication costs. For 134 patients with chronic conditions (such as thalassemia, sickle cell anaemia, and autoimmune diseases) UNRWA will cover 30 to 80 per cent of medication costs, including treatments for life-threatening infectious and rheumatological conditions. Two existing UNRWA health centres will be rehabilitated or repaired, and two new centres in DESs will receive maintenance support. Essential medical equipment and furniture will also be provided to ensure safe, quality healthcare.
