Beirut (Mar Mikhael) Train Station: Industrial Heritage Park
The multi-layered crises Lebanon is reeling from impedes the ability of authorities to rehabilitate spaces of artistic expression as well as to heritage buildings damaged by the Beirut Port blast in 2020 and thus limiting the offer and access to social and cultural life. Within UNESCO's LiBeirut initiative, this project aims to rehabilitate the industrial heritage found in a major section of the Mar Mikhael train station in Beirut for the benefit of Beirut inhabitants and transforming to a place for social and cultural exchange thus promoting access to heritage and culture. The 10,000m² area concerned, includes several historic buildings and trains which date back to19th century.
