In 1981, an Agreement was signed between UNESCO and the Garyounis University. Both institutions agreed that UNESCO carries out specific activities on behalf of the University on a fund-in-trust basis. Within the framework of this cooperation, UNESCO will assist in providing services to Garyounis University. Thus, UNESCO will participate ensuring the right procurement of equipment, organizing training activities for Libyan specialists and technicians and appointing a resident expert as well as providing any other services that are deemed necessary.
