Policy Budget Review

Evaluate UN budgets and programmes as an AI Secretary-General

An adviser to your AI Secretary-General briefs you on each programme's purpose, beneficiaries, performance indicators and issues, based solely on the original IATI text.

Based on that, you can judge for yourself, as a world citizen, whether the budget is appropriate, should be kept, or should be rebuilt.

Support to Expand Access to Renewable Energy and Digital Services in Madagascar

Budget for this programme
$32.8M
32.8 million USD

UNOPS supports the Digital and Energy Connectivity for Inclusion in Madagascar Project (DECIM) through the procurement of 800 000 solar kits and 30 000 solar lamps. Access to infrastructure in Madagascar, including electricity and digital, is among the lowest in Sub-Saharan Africa and in the world, yet many of the island’s regions have more than 2800 hours of annual sunshine, which are some of the highest levels on the continent. The introduction of the solar kits helps access to electicity also for geographically isolated communities and has the potential to help decrease dependance on fossil fuels from foreign markets.
