2026 oPt Emergency Appeal - Gaza - Food security and Livelihoods

UNRWA will seek to continue providing life-saving food assistance to up to 1.1 million people in Gaza through in-kind food distributions or cash-based modalities, depending on operational feasibility and market conditions. The Agency’s standard food basket includes essential staples and is designed to cover approximately 90 per cent of daily caloric needs, with the composition and method of delivery adjusted in response to the evolving context and needs. The Agency will expand its cash-for-work (CfW) / Job Creation Programme, aiming to provide emergency employment opportunities to over 10,000 persons at any time. UNRWA will leverage CfW to support small-scale rehabilitation and maintenance of Agency facilities, the operation of community kitchens, and the rehabilitation of other productive and social assets.
