Recognizing the urgent need to improve the availability of reliable, up to date, scientific information and data to support better environmental management and decision making in the State of Qatar, The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MECC) requested UNEP Regional Office for West Asia for technical assistance to support the development of an environment information system and knowledge management system, including building capacities in the MECC on monitoring and managing the information as well as the utilization of this data to prepare reports on the implementation on MEAs, and support better planning and decision making on environmental management
