2025 oPt Emergency Appeal - Gaza - Emergency Health and Nutrition

UNRWA currently delivers primary health care through seven accessible health centres (including three of five temporary centres) and 54 medical points in and around UNRWA-managed shelters and sites, with numbers varying based on access, security and demand. Services include maternal and child health care, management of communicable and non-communicable diseases and MHPSS, with an average of 16,000 consultations daily - about two-thirds of all primary health care in Gaza. In 2025, UNRWA plans to expand temporary health centres to improve service coverage, and to address declining access to tertiary care and strengthen emergency preparedness, it will support trauma and emergency care by prepositioning trauma kits, providing hospitalization assistance, offering hospital subsidies and, where feasible, delivering assistive devices and rehabilitation services. Also, UNRWA will continue nutritional screening for children aged six months to five years and coordinate with partners like UNICEF and WFP to provide supplementary food for malnourished or at-risk children and pregnant women. It will also distribute high-energy biscuits to children in temporary learning spaces.
